Youth Development Initiatives

Youth are at the heart of SURD’s initiatives, seen as the catalysts for change within the community. By providing leadership training, skills development, and mentorship, SURD empowers young people to take active roles in addressing societal challenges. Youth-led projects focus on climate awareness, gender equality, and economic development, creating a ripple effect of positive change. With education as their foundation, youth drive advocacy and innovation, contributing to community resilience. Their involvement ensures sustainability, as they become future leaders and decision-makers, bridging the gap between generations and ensuring continued progress within the Rohingya nation.

Alignment with SDGs and Refugee Rights:
Youth-focused initiatives contribute to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering young refugees as agents of change. Refugee rights ensure their access to participation and leadership opportunities within their community. SURD channels the energy and potential of Rohingya youth to advocate for their rights, develop skills, and tackle challenges such as unemployment and social marginalization. Empowering youth aligns with creating resilient communities capable of addressing their socio-economic needs.

Strategic Plan to Navigate:
SURD invests in youth leadership programs, capacity-building workshops, and entrepreneurship training to foster self-reliance. It collaborates with organizations to provide internships, mentoring, and scholarships. These initiatives equip youth with practical skills and networks to influence positive change. By nurturing youth-led projects, SURD ensures that its mission is driven from within the community, making progress both sustainable and locally relevant.

SURD is interested in supporting the Bangladesh government in easing refugee management through community-driven initiatives. By training Rohingya youth and leaders, SURD strengthens communication, trust, and conflict resolution between refugees and authorities. Vocational training programs aligned with national labor market needs reduce dependency, empowering refugees to contribute economically. SURD’s data-driven advocacy provides actionable insights for policy-making and efficient resource allocation. Partnering with health departments, SURD promotes hygiene and disease prevention to alleviate public health burdens. Additionally, SURD pilots community-based governance models, empowering refugees to manage internal affairs and easing administrative pressures. These efforts align with government priorities while promoting sustainable solutions. Through collaboration, SURD ensures that refugee management is effective, reducing strain on resources and fostering resilience in camps. By integrating education, skill development, health, and governance strategies, SURD helps transform challenges into opportunities for sustainable progress, benefitting both refugees and the host nation.
