Policy Governance

Policy governance provides the framework for implementing SURD’s mission and vision. It transforms research insights and advocacy efforts into actionable policies that address systemic challenges within the Rohingya community. Governance ensures accountability, sustainability, and long-term impact by creating structures that uphold human rights, protect opportunities, and foster collaboration. It aligns community needs with local and global priorities, driving cohesive development. Education, youth leadership, women’s empowerment, and research feed into governance, ensuring policies are inclusive, ethical, and effective. By focusing on governance, SURD ensures transformative change becomes institutionalized, benefiting the community for generations to come.

Alignment with SDGs and Refugee Rights:
Policy governance aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaborations that enhance the implementation of sustainable development and uphold refugee rights. Governance frameworks ensure that the community’s needs are integrated into local and international policy agendas. For Rohingya refugees, robust governance mechanisms uphold principles of dignity, equity, and justice, ensuring that their rights to health, education, and livelihoods are respected and protected.

Strategic Plan to Navigate:
SURD actively participates in policy dialogues and networks to integrate refugee perspectives into governance structures. It builds coalitions with INGOs and government agencies to advocate for refugee-inclusive policies. By promoting community-led governance, SURD empowers refugees to take ownership of their development while ensuring that their voices influence decisions at all levels. This approach bridges gaps between grassroots initiatives and systemic change.

SURD aims to collaborate with the Bangladesh Government to develop and implement inclusive policies that ensure effective refugee governance and management. By leveraging its expertise in policy dialogues, coalition-building, and community engagement, SURD seeks to integrate refugee perspectives into national frameworks, aligning with international standards. The organization prioritizes fostering partnerships with INGOs, government agencies, and local stakeholders to advocate for policies that uphold the rights, dignity, and development of refugees. SURD’s community-led governance approach empowers refugees to actively contribute to decision-making processes, ensuring their voices are heard at every level. This participatory model not only enhances policy relevance but also promotes sustainable, grassroots-driven solutions. Through this collaboration, SURD envisions creating a structured, inclusive governance mechanism that bridges grassroots initiatives with systemic change, supporting Bangladesh in addressing refugee challenges effectively while reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian principles.
